Microsoft eased up on one DRM hurdle for disc video games on Xbox

Microsoft is making it simpler to play video games in your Xbox Sequence X, even when it’s offline — as of the 2208 update released earlier this month, you gained’t be compelled to do an internet compatibility test to play a recreation from an Xbox One disc (via Windows Central). As an alternative, you’ll be able to simply pop the disc in, set up the sport, and play; no web connection required.

The change, which isn’t listed as a characteristic of the 2208 replace on Microsoft’s website, was confirmed by Xbox engineering lead Eden Marie, who tweeted that the test was eliminated as a result of it wasn’t crucial “within the overwhelming majority of circumstances” when enjoying a cross-generation recreation on the Sequence X.
