It’s a slide. Youngsters go down these items on a regular basis. Dangerous issues not often ever occur, however solely as a result of they’re children, proper? Absolutely, nothing unhealthy would occur to massive grownup man David Vassegh.

On the Dodgers’ journey to Milwaukee, Vassegh, a reporter for the crew, was seeking to fulfill a dream he’s had for a really very long time — go down the house run slide at American Household Discipline. It’s a fairly customary dream. As a Bay Space native, I’ve at all times wished to go down the slide within the Coke bottle at Oracle Park. I’m certain if I ever had the chance to go down that slide in American Household Discipline or soar within the pool simply over the right-center fence at Chase Discipline, I’d accomplish that in a heartbeat.

The factor is, you by no means anticipate fulfilling your desires to land you within the hospital. Vassegh was wide-eyed and ecstatic as he stood atop Bernie Brewer’s Chalet. He had a blanket prepared and all to realize most pace for his descent. Oh, what a harmful mistake that may transform, as a result of as Vassegh shot down the slide, screaming in pleasure, the pace was an excessive amount of to bear and Vassegh flew straight into the wall on the backside, breaking his arm and 6 ribs within the course of.

Dodgers broadcasters Joe Davis and Nomar Garciaparra have been in hysterics. There are tv episodes with out plots as nice because the one we noticed unfold within the video above.

The real takeaway from all of this though should be Vassegh’s toughness. This man broke bones in multiple places, was laughed at relentlessly, and still managed to finish his job for the game. He didn’t ask for the day off, although he very likely would’ve been given a pass. He was a good sport, and a tough son of a gun who was willing to own up to his embarrassing misfortune and continue talking baseball. Even the players that Vassegh covers were impressed with his resilience. After the Dodgers went on to win the game 2-1, catcher Austin Barnes caught up with Vassegh and told him that the team won that game for him.

So, props to Vassegh. Clearly, he’s got the respect of everyone in that locker room. Even after breaking multiple bones on a slide, he can laugh at himself, express humility, and continue doing a stellar job on air. There’s no word on whether or not Vassegh will miss any time in order to properly recover, but either way, Vassegh has already earned respect around the league.

Even if he were to take the rest of the season off now, he’s already proven he can work through pain and continue putting smiles on people’s faces. Hats off to you, Vassegh! Maybe take the stairs next time.
