Asda Tunstall: superstore evacuated as bomb squad scrambled to ‘suspicious package deal’

An Asda grocery store in Tunstall has been evacuated after a “suspicious package deal” was discovered outdoors the constructing earlier in the present day.

Stoke-on-Trent Police stated the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) group are en route to research the package deal in Staffordshire.

Officers say a 100m cordon is in place and roads surrounding the shop have been closed.

Scotia Highway in Stoke is among the roads closed and the whole size of Willamson Road, which runs between Asda and Matalan, has been cordoned off. Police have been known as to the scene at 8.30am on this morning.

“Police have been known as at 8.30 am. The shop has been evacuated and a 100-metre cordon is in place.

“Roads surrounding the shop have been closed, together with Scotia Highway. The Explosive Ordinance Disposal group are on their approach to assess the package deal.”
