David Bailey remembers photographing ‘type of cheeky’ Queen for royal portrait

David Bailey has recalled drastically having fun with his picture shoot with the Queen, describing the late monarch as “terrific” and “type of cheeky”.

The 84-year-old photographer, identified for documenting the Swinging Sixties in London and additional afield, photographed the Queen in 2014.

In 2017 it was reissued to mark the sixty fifth anniversary of the Queen’s accession to the throne.

Chatting with the PA information company on the launch of his Imaginative and prescient And Sound exhibition at 45 Park Lane, Bailey recalled that the royal sitting was not rushed.
