Earl and Countess of Wessex meet mourners on walkabout in Windsor

The Earl and Countess of Wessex acquired a heat welcome as they seen a sea of flowers and tributes left for the Queen throughout a walkabout in Windsor.

Edward and Sophie smiled and laughed as they shook fingers and accepted bouquets from mourners lined up exterior Cambridge Gate on Friday.

The Queen’s youngest son informed mourners providing him their condolences: “I believe we’ve all misplaced somebody”, after paying tribute to his “beloved mama” in an announcement earlier within the afternoon.

The crowds erupted into applause and cheers as soon as the couple had completed their walkabout and walked by means of the gates of the fortress.

Ms Bacon-Evans, from Windsor, added: “She had an excellent handshake, very robust. I stated she seemed lovely and I used to be so sorry for her loss and he or she stated ‘thanks’.”

Talking to a different group, Edward stated: “She was such a tremendous presence in our lives for such a very long time.”

Sophie, wearing black, appeared emotional as she learn messages left for the Queen exterior the fortress gates.

She promised one well-wisher “I’ll lay them for you” as she was given the flowers, which she stated have been “pretty”.

Among the many tributes lining Cambridge Gate have been sunflowers, playing cards and a big mannequin of Paddington Bear holding a purple rose.

Natalie Prince, 35, who works on the family-run Darling Buds of Windsor, stated the preferred blooms had been royal purple hydrangeas, sunflowers and shares, considered one of many Queen’s favourites.
